Our maps describe different kinds of crimes that occur in Providence. The maps show how there are various crimes in certain neighborhoods. There are many types of crimes and each map shows something different. By looking at these maps you can see where it’s safe and where it’s not. Our maps will tell you exactly what’s going on around you!

Final / Map Ideas:
Interview people in your neighborhood about their perceptions of crime in the city and compare their responses to our crime data. What differences do you notice? How might you change people's perception or change the patterns of crime in your neighborhood?
Make a map of a certain type of crime and track occurrences through different times of day and days of the week. Do you notice any patterns? Propose how your findings might be used to affect change.
Map crime rates by neighborhood and overlay with another set of data- economic distribution, home ownership, language isolation… do you see any correlations? Remember there's a difference between causation and correlation…
Using crime data, design where you think police stations should be situated and where you think police officers should be stationed. Suggest placement of other places too- community centers? New parks? Schools? That you think might also affect crime activity.
